Cooper Kupp's WR Drills to Improve Route Running, Release & Creating Separation · Play Football

What it is

Cooper Kupp breaks down receiver releases and route running through six drill stations, suitable for high school and up.

Why it's great

Most route-running content shows the end product; Kupp isolates the stick jab release series with hand placement details, then connects it to the burst-glide-burst tempo that creates separation at the break. The progression from static to reactive (red light/green light) builds timing under pressure.

How to use it in practice

Run as a 20-minute circuit: start with stick jab progressions against air (inside, outside, double move), move to burst-glide-burst with cones at 5-8 yards to groove the deceleration, finish with the two-step and three-step race drills where receivers compete to the break point. Kupp's cue is 'sink your hips' on the glide phase.
