Takedowns
Stop Forcing Shots (Use These 4 Guaranteed Openings) · Iron Faith Wrestling
What it is
Four specific shot opportunities with setups: shooting from open, pull/pop-up, circle-step, and using fakes to create openings for any level.
Why it's great
Most takedown videos show the technique; this one shows when to pull the trigger. Each setup includes the defensive read that creates the opening and the specific footwork to capitalize. The progression from static setups to reactive fakes gives you a natural practice sequence.
How to use it in practice
Drill each setup in isolation first: have athletes recognize the cue (opponent steps in, reaches, circles) then shoot immediately. Progress to king-of-the-circle where they must create one of the four openings before shooting. The drill demos at the end show controlled speed work that bridges to live wrestling.
