Defense
Lines Of Takedown Defense: Basic Wrestling and BJJ Moves and Technique For Beginners · Fundamental Wrestling
What it is
Four-line takedown defense breakdown (head, hands, forearms, hips) for teaching defensive progression to beginners and intermediates.
Why it's great
Most defense videos show reactions to specific attacks; this teaches the spatial framework first. The step-by-step structure makes it easy to correct athletes who collapse or reach incorrectly. Gives you a diagnostic tool: when a wrestler gets taken down, you can identify which line failed.
How to use it in practice
Use this as a warmup segment before live wrestling. Walk through each line stationary, then have partners slowly pressure-test each one. Cue athletes to recognize which line they're on and make them reset if they skip one. Progress to slow motion shots where the defender must engage all four lines in sequence.
